Return home

Got up this morning with to a steady drizzle, the weather forecast was for rain on Sunday but unfortunately it has come a day earlier.
At first it was drizzling, and we thought we could still ride into Koblenz if it stoped but by the time we washed up the drizzle became deluge and we just packed everything up and headed to the nearest train station and miss out on the last +/-40kms to Koblenz.
The weather had been very nice till now and we did not want to cycle in the rain for the last 4 days and forget the very nice experience we have had so far.
The German trains are great, totally set up for the cyclist and also reasonably priced it was a pleasant experience to ride on. Even the lady at the ticket counter who suggested we purchase a weekend pass for about 20 Euros cheaper than normal fare and the bikes were 4.50 each, now that is service.
From Aachen we rode in a steady drizzle back to Maastricht.
It had been a great mini tour and a great escape for both of us, if a little short. It was also great to revisit some places we rode through years before.
We highly recommend this area for cycling, maybe not so much riding for a long period along the Mosel as it was beginning to get boring for us.

Day 7   Home

Left to Right: 1- View inside the train we rode in with our bikes, (sorry for the picture quality), as you can see we weren't the only cycling tourists onboard. The other couple sitting next to Monique had cycled in southern Germany for 10 days and were now returning home, like us ;-) 2&3- Just a couple of pictures of us in our rain gear between Vals and Gulpen, NL. 4- Finally back home.

We hope you liked our latest tour and hope you come back to read other tours we will be doing. We wish you always have the sun on your face and the wind at your back;

George and Monique.
