Due to some unforeseen circumstances we had to
cut this tour short. We ended up going to Basel where we turned
around and cycled back to just past Kehl, Germany where we took the
train to Aachen before we cycled the last 35kms back to Maastricht.
Along the way we also met a lot of other cyclists, mostly Dutch
going to Rome ;-)
We wished we could continue on to Nice but it just wasn't meant to
be this time.
The ride to Basel was very nice and the weather was great. We only
rode in the rain on the last day and only the last 30kms from Kehl
north to Stollhofen.
For the rest of the tour it was a perfect ride. We really enjoyed
being on the road again.
